Classroom Blogging: Writing a New Way

Today we held our first workshop about blogs and blogging. It’s exciting to think of the possibilities, although I know that jumping into a new project can be hard for teachers. They’re already busy enough as it is. It was a bad evening to schedule it as well…most schools have Good Friday off. In any case, ideas from participants included:

  • Using a blog as a newsletter to parents or community members.
  • Allowing students to post writing assignments for classmates, parents, and the world to read and respond.
  • Collaborating with other district professionals to create and revise district curriculum.

There are some things I’d do differently, but all in all the workshop went well. I hope that REMC 11 will sponsor another blog workshop early this summer. If you are thinking about blogging at your school, let me know!
