Teach with Inspiration!

If I was stranded on a desert island, Inspiration would be the piece of software I would want to have. (Nevermind the fact that my power cord won’t reach that far…and you know how long laptops batteries last.) Inspiration is a concept mapping/webbing tool that virtually anyone can use, it’s that simple.

Inspiration can be used for almost any project as a planning and brainstorming tool. I use it to organize my thoughts when putting together a new presentation…and you know what? I can import my presentation outline directly into PowerPoint. Presentation done!

Some other features of Inspiration include:

  • Easy creation of concept maps, flow charts, diagrams with plenty of symbols/shapes [pdf] to customize.
  • Create web pages from diagrams! Inspiration automatically creates hyperlinks to web pages or documents and will also export the diagram as a web page.
  • Diagrams can quickly (one click) be converted to an outline which can be exported directly to your favorite word processor
  • Do you remember using the 3 x 5 cards to keep track of your notes for research projects? Inspiration allows you to add notes to any topic. These notes become part of the outline and are exported along with the outline into a word processor. Bottom line…if you do a good job at taking notes, the paper is written before you get it into MS Word.

There are many more cool things that you can do with Inspiration as a teacher or a student which is why I am leading a workshop, Teach with Inspiration!, on June 16, from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. Come see how versatile this application is!
