Spring 2006 Workshops from BCISD

Next week everyone is the tri-county area (it’s fun to say tri-county) should be receiving our flyer describing the workshops we’ll be hosting next semester.  I had originally not planned for any type of MS Office workshops, but there’s been enough requests that I decided to add PowerPoint Projects.  PP has become a necessary evil, one that is expected to be used, but that doesn’t get used effectively.

Here’s a great resource for the how-tos of PowerPoint.  However, PP should be a lot less of “how it behaves” and more of the “what’s in it?”  I spent some time last night with my fourth grader helping him with a PP project, an extension of what he had been required to do by his teacher.  Kids are naturally drawn to the visual aspect of PP and having control over how it looks.  Teachers, on the other hand, can’t get bogged down with that silliness.  Content is the key…who writes with bullets anyway?
