Google Images…x-rated no more

The Berrien County ISD has been providing Internet connectivity to the local districts since Al Gore invented it…and along with that we have provided filtering to keep kids out of nasty places.

Local districts had been frustrated, however, at the lack of ability to filter out the results from Google Image Search. All students who wanted to see something exciting had to do was simply search their favorite keyword in Google Images to be treated to a show. Google’s SafeSearch preferences didn’t help at all since anyone could change the settings to something less strict.

Enter the R3000.

The R3000 Internet Filter is a standalong server applicance dedicated to monitoring and filtering Internet access. It ensures stability, scalability and performance without compromising other server/network functions. Yada yada yada…

The bottom line is that, try as I might, I couldn’t get much, if any, x-rated material to show up. Hopefully that will eliminate some of the ifs, ands, or buts that some educators bring up when asked to use available technology. And it’s another way that BCISD is providing valuable services to our districts.
