Use PBWiki for Student Journals

I mentioned a week or so ago that I used PBWiki to help dessiminate information during the Technology Teachers Resource Meeting. Janine and I used our wiki to create an agenda for the day. I was so nice to have a place where we could easily collaborate on a document…and PBWiki is incredibly easy to use.
Yesterday in another workshop we were talking about wikis and what they could be used for and focused on student journaling. Good things about using PBWiki for journaling:

  • Wikis can be made private…users must have the password.
  • Students can access their journal anywhere they have online access (that’s a lot of places).
  • Teachers can comment to journal entries right in the wiki by changing their text to a different color.
  • Teachers don’t have to actually visit the wiki journals, they can subscribe to each wiki’s RSS feed and collect each journal entry in their aggregator.

Check out PBWiki! It’s an easy and FREE tool!
