Summer is for Technology

The one thing that all teachers say at professional development events is, "I don't have enough time to play around with this stuff!" Well, Memorial Day has come and gone and many teachers are already out for the summer. The time is here, then, to try something you haven't before. You have practically three months to play around. Here are a few things to try:

  • Take a Class. There are 5 technology-focused workshops being held here at the ISD during the week of June 19. Here is more information about each.
  • Start a Blog. I'd suggest using WordPress.com, but there are lots of blogging sites. Blogging is one of the simplest ways to create online content and as a teacher you should be all over simple.
  • Try Social Bookmarking. Save your links online (they're always available to you) and share them with the world. Explore someone else's bookmarks to find out what they deal important. Use Furl, del.icio.us, or Jots.
  • Use Bloglines. Bloglines is a news feed aggregator that collects new info from web sites and blogs and centralizes it for you.

I'll be some more "assignments" as the summer progresses.
